Middlesex County Property Tax Abatement Deadline

Deadline varies by county — check your county's appraisal district.

Key Dates for Middlesex County

Abatement deadlineAbatement is municipal, not county. A taxpayer applies in writing to the local Board of Assessors on or before the last day for payment, without incurring interest, of the first installment of the actual (third-quarter) tax bill. In the quarterly-billing municipalities that make up Middlesex County, that date is February 1 — and where February 1 is a weekend or holiday it rolls to the next business day, so for fiscal year 2026 the deadline is Monday, February 2, 2026. Applications for omitted, revised, or reassessed taxes must be filed within 3 months of the date that bill was mailed. Assessors then have 3 months to act; inaction after 3 months is a deemed denial.
